The student (research assistant) will administer surveys to offenders being supervised on probation and parole. The survey will measure employment attitudes and motivation and the factors that shape those attitudes and motivations. The survey will be administered in the lobby of the community corrections office where they report for their appointment with their community corrections officer. This office is located approximately 3-4 miles west of downtown Orlando. The position requires a 3 hour/week commitment for the duration of the Spring 2022 semester. This 3 hour block must be completed some time during the corrections office hours of Monday – Thursday 8 am – 5 pm.

Student Responsibilities
The research assistant will be responsible for asking offenders who are waiting in the office lobby if they are interested in participating in a UCF study. If the offender agrees, the assistant will review the informed consent form with the study participant and answer any questions about the survey. Last, they will collect the surveys and return them to my office on the main campus at UCF.

Student Requirements
The student must be over the age of 18 and have completed at least 1 year of undergraduate coursework. The student must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 and be articulate, professional, confident and assertive.

There is a possibility of payment through the various grants provided through the Office of Undergraduate Research. Other compensation may be available through college/departmental funds. With or without payment, the research can count toward independent study credit or the ZERO credit hours independent research option.
