Flow over staggered cylinder - Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering

Flow over an array of cylinders is important for studying pin fin cooling in turbine blades. In this research, such flow over multiple cylinders will be investigated using three dimensional imaging techniques consisting of multiple high-speed cameras. The student will assist graduate student to design the experiment, conduct tests and analyze the result. The combined team work will lead to a archival-quality publication.

The student needs to work with a graduate student, assist in setting experiment and learn the basics of particle image velocimetry (PIV), flow visualization, etc.
