UCF has four 3+3 accelerated law programs. The UCF PHPL Advising office has an agreement with and coordinates two 3+3 programs with law schools in Florida – the Florida State University College of Law (Tallahassee) and the Florida International University College of Law (Miami).
What is a 3+3 accelerated law program?
Want to begin law school a year early? Completing and successfully gaining admission to a participating law school through one of UCF’s 3+3 programs will allow qualified applicants to begin law school up to one year early.
A 3+3 accelerated law program provides the opportunity to qualified UCF students to seamlessly complete a UCF bachelor’s degree and a Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree at participating law schools in six rather than seven years. Participants in the program will complete (or end) their first three years of study at UCF and the fourth year in residence at a participating law school. In other words, this program allows UCF Seniors to have their first year in law school attributed back to their undergraduate degree, so that they are simultaneously finishing their bachelor’s degree and completing their first year of law school.
Undergraduate students who gain admission into law school through the 3+3 program will follow the usual prescribed course of study for full-time, first-year law students. After successfully completing the first year of law school, 3+3 participants will receive the bachelor’s degree from UCF, assuming all other UCF graduation requirements are met. The J.D. degree will be awarded upon successful completion of all course credits for law school and all other J.D. graduation requirements at the law school.
