About

Mission

The University of Central Florida’s Academic Advancement Programs (AAP) collaborates with faculty, staff, and partners to empower students across all majors. We guide students toward competitive candidacy for graduate, health professional, and law schools preparing them to contribute to their communities.

Vision

The Vision of Academic Advancement Programs (AAP) is to model a comprehensive graduate and professional school preparedness culture at UCF, where students aiming for graduate, health professional, and law schools receive holistic assistance, resources, and experiences to become competitive candidates. We strive for excellence in collaboration with faculty, staff, and coaching partners, maintaining relationships that empower students to make informed, strategic decisions about their future educational pursuits.

Goals

Graduate/Professional School Preparedness Culture: Cultivate a graduate/professional school readiness culture by engaging students with a broad support network that includes university partners and community stakeholders.

Academic Preparation & Competitiveness: Ensure students are informed about academic prerequisites, extracurricular experiences, and their own strengths and weaknesses, enabling them to create strategies to address gaps and set aspirational goals for GPA and activities.

Tailored Pathways to Admission: Guide students in understanding that there is no singular formula for admission to graduate, health or law schools, encouraging them to shape individualized paths based on personal interests and life experiences.

Strategic Interactions & Resource Access: Empower students to independently locate academic assistance and extracurricular opportunities, balancing courses with activities and seeking timely advisement when needed.

Holistic Student Development: Foster appreciation for coursework, diverse extracurricular involvement to grow academically and personally allowing UCF students to B.E.A.M.

Inclusivity & Access for All Students: Make services accessible to all students, particularly first-generation, Pell-eligible, and underrepresented groups, ensuring representation in graduate and professional-related fields.

Impact Beyond Education: Encourage students to consider the broader impact of their educational goals, preparing them to contribute positively to the UCF community, their families, and society.

Fostering a Supportive Academic Family: Promote an inclusive, welcoming environment that treats students as part of the AAP family from their first interaction, creating a sense of belonging and support for all participants.
