United to Promote Cultural Awareness (UPCA) is a UCF Downtown campus initiative that was created by ToCarra Jordan in 2020. UPCAs vision is to use education to drive change, create cultural awareness, and provide learning opportunities that will increase the support and inclusivity of members of the Black campus community as well as the surrounding community, particularly the Parramore community. A committee was formed to assist in supporting the vision, mission, and objectives of UPCA, and the Juneteenth Celebration was created as the group’s signature event. Undergraduate design students were given the opportunity to create a design to be used for promotional items for the event, and Jennifer Chocolate’s design was selected.
