UCF offices, including the University Testing Center, will be closed from December 19, 2024, through January 1, 2025. Normal operations will resume on January 2, 2025. For detailed information about our policies, procedures, and services, please navigate this site using the main menu.
The Department of Chemistry at UCF utilizes the Educational Testing Service (ETS) Major Field Test in Chemistry as its exit exam. Undergraduate students at UCF will be informed by the Department of Chemistry if they are required to take the test during their final semester at UCF.
The ETS Major Field Test in Chemistry is computerized and consists of approximately 90 multiple-choice questions. Test takers will have two (2) hours to complete the test.
The office of Student Accessibility Services (SAS) works in collaboration with the University Testing Center (UTC) to ensure that reasonable accommodations are made for students with documented disabilities. Students with disabilities seeking accommodations for placement tests must have approval from the SAS office (407-823-2371 or sas@ucf.edu). Note: test takers should allow at least two (2) weeks for SAS and UTC to process the accommodation request once the formal request has been submitted to SAS.
You can find more details and the request form at: https://sas.sdes.ucf.edu/students/ucf-placement-tests-and-university-testing-center-accommodations/
Once UTC receives notification from the SAS office of a test-taker’s testing accommodations, a UTC staff member will create a registration account for the student and email them instructions to register. Students should NOT REGISTER for a testing appointment until they receive these instructions from UTC.
The cost for the Chemistry Exit Exam is $30. All costs paid to the University Testing Center are non-refundable and non-transferable.
As of January 1, 2025, the cost for the Chemistry Exit Exam will increase to $40.00.
Test takers must review the University Testing Center’s policies prior to test day: Items such as outwear (hoodies, sweaters, jackets, pullovers, cardigans, any form of second layer clothing), watches, and electronic devices are not permitted into the test room. UTC does offer lockers at no additional cost. The full list of UTC policies can be found here.
Rescheduling an Appointment
Test takers may reschedule their appointments at no cost up to 7 days prior to the scheduled test date/time by following the instructions below. To reschedule within 7 days, test-takers would need to email a cancellation notice to UTC and schedule a new appointment, including full repayment of the test cost. Missed appointments will require full repayment of the test cost, this includes cancelation or arrivals more than 15-minutes late.
How to Reschedule
Upon completion of the exam, you will be able to view your scores on‐screen and you will receive an automatic test completion email that will include directions on how to view your scores online. Scores from the ETS Major Field Test in Chemistry will be provided to the Department of Chemistry. There is no pass or fail grade for the Chemistry Exit Exam.
