The Department of Chemistry at UCF utilizes the Educational Testing Service (ETS) Major Field Test in Chemistry as their exit exam. Undergraduate students at UCF will be informed by the Department of Chemistry if they are required to take the test during their final semester at UCF.
The ETS Major Field Test in Chemistry is computerized and consists of approximately 90 multiple-choice questions. Test takers will have two (2) hours to complete the test.
Students who believe they qualify for academic accommodations for most University Testing Center (UTC) tests should contact Student Accessibility Services (SAS) prior to registering for the test to inquire about options available (sas@ucf.edu; 407 -823-2371). Students will need to submit the Third-Party Exam Accommodations Request Form to SAS. The process to review documentation may take up to ten (10) business days to determine if the accommodation request is appropriate for approval. Note: Test-takers seeking to test with accommodations must schedule their appointment time for Monday-Friday at 12:45 PM or earlier.
The cost for the Chemistry Exit Exam is $30. All costs paid to the University Testing Center are non-refundable and non-transferable.
Test takers must review the University Testing Center’s policies prior to test day: Items such as outwear (hoodies, sweaters, jackets, pullovers, cardigans, any form of second layer clothing), watches, and electronic devices are not permitted into the test room. UTC does offer lockers at no additional cost. The full list of UTC policies can be found here.
Rescheduling an Appointment
Test takers may reschedule their appointments at no cost up to 7 days prior to the scheduled test date/time by following the instructions below. To reschedule within 7 days, test-takers would need to email a cancellation notice to UTC and schedule a new appointment, including full repayment of the test cost. Missed appointments will require full repayment of the test cost, this includes cancelation or arrivals more than 15-minutes late.
How to Reschedule
Upon completion of the exam, you will be able to view your scores on‐screen and you will receive an automatic test completion email that will include directions on how to view your scores online. Scores from the ETS Major Field Test in Chemistry will be provided to the Department of Chemistry. There is no pass or fail grade for the exit exam.
