Notice: This exam is currently proctored in-person at the University Testing Center.
You are allowed 2.5 hours to complete the multiple-choice test. Although each exam is unique in its content, most tests have a listening, reading, and grammar component. Most exams are computerized with a few that are paper/pencil versions. See the list of those exams below.
There are no test preparation materials available. The most successful way to prepare for any given test is to review your reading ability. It is also helpful if you have a friend to practice both listening and speaking of the language.
The following languages listed below are only offered in paper/pencil version: You will need to call BYU to order written exams (801) 422-3512. Allow 2 weeks for BYU to mail your paper exams to the University Testing Center.
The office of Student Accessibility Services (SAS) works in collaboration with the University Testing Center (UTC) to ensure that reasonable accommodations are made for students with documented disabilities. Students with disabilities seeking accommodations for placement tests must have approval from the SAS office (407-823-2371 or sas@ucf.edu). Note: test-takers should allow at least two (2) weeks for SAS and UTC to process the accommodation request once the formal request has been submitted to SAS.
Once UTC receives notification from the SAS office of a test-taker’s testing accommodations, a UTC staff member will notify the student via email.
Note: Test-takers seeking to test with accommodations must schedule their appointment time for Monday-Friday at 12:45 PM or earlier.
There are two separate registrations and payments required per test:
