UCF is closed Tuesday, October 8, 2024 - Thursday, October 10, 2024 and the University Testing Center has closed testing Tuesday, October 8, 2024 - Friday, October 11, 2024, due to expected impacts from Hurricane Milton. Impacted test-takers will be contacted to reschedule once the test center reopens for normal operations. Check your email. The Department of Physics at UCF utilizes the Educational Testing Service (ETS) Major Field Test in Physics as their exit exam. Undergraduate students at UCF will be informed by the Department of Physics if they are required to take the test during their final year at UCF.
The ETS Major Field Test in Physics is computerized and consists of approximately 70 multiple-choice questions. Test takers will have two (2) hours to complete the test. No retakes are allowed.
The Physics Exit Exam is given in the Fall and Spring semesters. Students will be notified to test during their senior year of the program.
The office of Student Accessibility Services (SAS) works in collaboration with the University Testing Center (UTC) to ensure that reasonable accommodations are made for test takers with documented disabilities. Test takers with disabilities seeking alternative testing arrangements (e.g. extended time, etc.) must request approval from SAS (407-823-2371 or sas@ucf.edu). Note: test takers should allow at least two (2) weeks for SAS and UTC to process the accommodation requests once the formal request has been submitted to SAS.
You can find more details and the request form at: https://sas.sdes.ucf.edu/students/ucf-placement-tests-and-university-testing-center-accommodations/
Once UTC receives notification from the SAS office of a test-taker’s testing accommodations, a UTC staff member will create a registration account for the student and email them instructions to register. Test takers should NOT REGISTER for a testing appointment until they receive these instructions from UTC.
The cost for the Physics Exit Exam is covered by the Physics Department.
Test takers must review the University Testing Center’s policies prior to test day: Items such as outwear (hoodies, sweaters, jackets, pullovers, cardigans, any form of second layer clothing), watches, and electronic devices are not permitted into the test room. UTC does offer lockers at no additional cost. The full list of UTC policies can be found here.
After completing the registration process, check your email for the test registration confirmation. If you do not receive a confirmation email, contact utc@ucf.edu.
Rescheduling an Appointment Test takers may not reschedule their appointments without documentation of emergency circumstances. Students arriving more than 15-minutes late may not be able to test.
Upon completion of the exam, you will be able to view your scores on‐screen and you will receive an automatic test completion email that will include directions on how to view your scores online. Scores from the ETS Major Field Test in Physics will be provided to the Department of Physics. There is no pass or fail grade for the exit exam, and students may not retake the exam.
