Physics Exit Exam


The Department of Physics at UCF utilizes the Educational Testing Service (ETS) Major Field Test in Physics as their exit exam. Undergraduate students at UCF will be informed by the Department of Physics if they are required to take the test during their final year at UCF.

Test Format

The ETS Major Field Test in Physics is computerized and consists of approximately 70 multiple-choice questions. Test takers will have two (2) hours to complete the test. No retakes are allowed.

 

2024 Test Dates:

The Physics Exit Exam is given in the Fall and Spring semesters. Students will be notified to test during their senior year of the program.

Semester Test Dates
Spring 2024 Monday, March 11, 2024- Friday, April 5, 2024
Fall 2024 Monday, October 14, 2024 – Friday, November 15, 2024

 

Testing Accommodations

Students who believe they qualify for academic accommodations should contact Student Accessibility Services (SAS) prior to registering for the test to inquire about options available (sas@ucf.edu; 407 -823-2371). Students will need to submit the Third-Party Exam Accommodations Request Form to SAS. The process to review documentation may take up to ten (10) business days to determine if the accommodation request is appropriate for approval.
Note: Test-takers seeking to test with accommodations must schedule their appointment time for Monday-Friday at 12:45 PM or earlier.

 

Testing Costs

The cost for the Physics Exit Exam is covered by the Physics Department.

 

Registration Procedures

Review UTC Policies

Test takers must review the University Testing Center’s policies prior to test day: Items such as outwear (hoodies, sweaters, jackets, pullovers, cardigans, any form of second layer clothing), watches, and electronic devices are not permitted into the test room. Schedule A Test Appointment

  • *Early registration is strongly recommended due to very limited seating per test date. You must
    complete the registration process a minimum of 24 hours prior to your desired test date and
    time.
  • Navigate to https://www.registerblast.com/ucf/Exam/List and click on “Physics Exit Exam”
    then choose from the available dates and times that are listed and make your payment.
  • You MUST enter your correct UCF ID number (NOT your NID) when registering for this exam. Your UCF ID is 7-digits with no letter and can be found on your UCF student ID card as shown below:

After completing the registration process, check your email for the test registration confirmation. If you do not receive a confirmation email, contact utc@ucf.edu.

Rescheduling an Appointment
Test takers may not reschedule their appointments without documentation of emergency circumstances. Students arriving more than 15-minutes late may not be able to test.

 

Test Day

  • Report Location: Report to the UCF/University Testing Center at 4297 Andromeda Loop N., Orlando, FL 32816. The UTC office is in Howard Phillips Hall, room 106 (take the elevator or stairs down to the first floor). This building is located next to the Library and the Reflecting Pond. Howard Phillips Hall is building #14 on the campus map. If you get lost finding our building, please call our front desk at 407-823-5109. Upon arrival, follow the posted instructions in the hallway for how to check-in.

  • Parking Information: A $5.00 daily permit is required to park in Parking Garage “A” or “I” on campus. Virtual daily permits are available online or through the UCF Mobile App using your vehicle license plate number. Please arrive early and allow enough time to park and arrive at the testing center. Information about campus maps, parking permits, and directions can also be found by visiting the Parking Services website at www.parking.ucf.edu
  • Arrival Time: Test takers are asked to arrive 15 minutes prior to their scheduled appointment time. Test takers arriving more than 15 minutes late may not be admitted and will forfeit any costs paid.
  • Identification Policy: Test takers are required to present one (1) primary form of valid government-issued identification that includes their photograph and signature.   • Lockers & Storage: Test-takers will have access to the lockers that are free of charge.

 

Results

Upon completion of the exam, you will be able to view your scores on‐screen and you will receive an automatic test completion email that will include directions on how to view your scores online. Scores from the ETS Major Field Test in Physics will be provided to the Department of Physics. There is no pass or fail grade for the exit exam, and students may not retake the exam.
