Accuplacer is a computer placement test (CPT) that provides useful information about a test taker’s knowledge in the areas of elementary algebra, reading comprehension, and writing (sentence) skills. Prior course work and nationally standardized test scores determine which sections of Accuplacer tests must be taken. The results of the assessment are used to determine placement into a college course that meets a test taker’s skill level.
Accuplacer tests are computerized and multiple choice. The number of questions varies depending on which Accuplacer test is taken. There could be as few as 12 questions or as many as 40. Although Accuplacer tests are untimed, 45-minutes per test is recommended.
The ACCUPLACER web-based study app features practice tests in each test subject. It is accessible from most devices with internet access, and will help you become familiar with the content and format of the ACCUPLACER test questions. Access the free ACCUPLACER practice app.
Test takers should contact the University Testing Center for more information about re-taking the Accuplacer.
Scores from the Accuplacer test will be provided to your Academic Advisor. During Orientation, your Academic Advisor will assist you with course registration based on your test scores. Accuplacer scores are valid for two (2) years.
