March 15, 2021

On March 5th, Phi Eta Sigma, the national honor society for freshmen students, welcomed a total of 456 new inductees with a 3.5 GPA or better to join the University of Central Florida chapter, proudly the largest chapter in the UCF chapter’s history. The chapter is provided support from the Knights Major Exploration and Transition Center (KMETC). The atmosphere of the virtual ceremony was formal and based on the traditions of Phi Eta Sigma, which was founded in 1923. This year’s induction speaker was UCF SGA President Sabrina La Rosa, the first Hispanic female in her role. The Executive Board members are President – Giovanna Raffa, Vice President – Mani Sarmast, Secretary – Melanie Kwaschyn, Treasurer – Zoe Ricardo, and Philanthropy Chair – Celest Joseph.  Each Executive Board member performed a special role in conducting the ceremony.  The newly inducted members appeared to enjoy the event, especially noting when their names were listed in the program through a presentation on the screen.

The UCF chapter was also acknowledged on social media by Phi Eta Sigma National Honor Society as the OUTSTANDING chapter spotlight for setting a new chapter record for new members. Check out the full ceremony recording below.
