ALC Corner: Fall 2023 Updates

By Lucas Noboa

The Advising Leadership Council (ALC) is beginning the 2023-24 academic year with Lucas Noboa (College of Nursing) serving as Chair and Lauren Murray-Lemon (College of Medicine) as Vice-Chair.

The ALC has taken the summer to develop priorities for this academic year. Some of these priorities include meeting with SGA leaders to discuss the perception of undergraduate academic advising and ways academic advising can be enhanced across colleges.

ALC will collaborate with Student Success and Advising and be heavily involved in the new coordinated care management approach and the introduction of Academic Advocate positions to UCF. In collaboration with First Year Experience, the ALC and college orientation coordinators will be meeting monthly to continue to enhance the new student experience.

The ALC will continue to champion discussions surrounding advisor hiring practices and retention of current academic advisors, which will help support the 4-year and 3-year graduation expectations that align with SSWB strategic goals and the UCF Five-year Strategic Plan.

The ALC also serves as an advocate for all academic advisors and academic advising concerns.  Please contact Lucas or Lauren at any time if you have questions or concerns.

Have a great fall semester and we will see you at the first AEP on September 22!
