The Student Success and Advising (SSA) portfolio, comprised of Academic Services for Student-Athletes, the Knights Major Exploration and Transition Center, Pre-Health and Pre-Law Advising, and Advisor Training and Development, was expanded to include new team members in spring 2023. SSA welcomed Mr. Mark Gumble, Assistant Vice President, Student Services, Dr. Ryan Newton, director of First Year Experience (FYE), Ms. Rebecca Piety, director of the Student Academic Resource Center (SARC) and the University Testing Center (UTC), and outstanding team members from each respective department. SSA, positioned within the division of Student Success and Well-Being, is located in Trevor Colbourn Hall (TCH), suite 215.
SARC is UCF’s learning center and has a reputation for delivering high-quality academic support programs and services for our UCF Knights. SARC offers a cadre of services including Peer Tutoring, Supplemental Instruction, Academic Success Workshops, Academic Coaching, Study Union, and numerous academic resources that promote student success. SARC is in TCH, suite 117. The UTC facilitates numerous testing services and exams that support UCF students and the Central Florida community. UTC can be found in Howard Phillips Hall, 106
As we kick off summer and fall 2023 FTIC and Transfer student orientations, FYE is extremely busy facilitating logistics, training Orientation Leaders, and collaborating with campus partners. This dynamic team supports UCF students and their families as they transition to the University. Offering Family Weekend and the Pegasus Parent Post, the FYE team is engaged year-round with enriching the lives of our students and their families. FYE is in Howard Phillips Hall, 216.
With the addition of these departments, SSA looks forward to continuing to advance the success of our UCF Knights!
