Learning Science / Modeling, Simulation, and Training Research Assistant - Learning Sciences & Educational Research


Research Assistant will contribute to a research project focused on cognition and performance in a virtual reality environment. Responsibilities primarily include data collection, which entails interacting with and running human subject participants. Other duties could include some processing, and analysis of data (if desired), as well as some small amount literature review.

Student Responsibilities

- Assist in data collection for a research experiment involving multi-modal data collection (e.g., eye tracking, HRV, and GSR) in Virtual Reality. This includes setting up and breaking down the study each day. It also requires interacting with participants (i.e.., meeting them, providing the informed consent, answering questions about the study). - Collaborate with graduate students on the project -Maintain accurate and detailed records of research activities. -The position requires a commitment of 10-15 hours per week. The project spans at least one semester, with opportunities for extension into a second semester. -Please note that the location is off main campus (~2miles) at UCF's Partnership II building. UCF's shuttle/bus services this location. -Comfortable working independently.

Student Requirements

- Comfortable working with human participants. - Ability to work independently and as part of a team. - Background in cognitive science, psychology, or related fields is preferred, but in no ways required. - Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. - Basic knowledge of research methods is a plus, but again, not required. - Good communication skills for interacting with participants and team members.

Scheduling is fairly flexible, but limited to M-F, 8am-5pm. Data collection will not start until July, but some on-boarding (i.e., getting familiar with the study, protocol, etc.) would happen prior to running participants (i.e., collecting data). Again, please note that the location is off main campus (~2miles) at UCF's Partnership II building. UCF's shuttle/bus services this location.
