Computer Security Research Assistant - Electrical and Computer Engineering

Recent advances in hardware and system-based exploitations have raised significant concern about computer security. Particularly, it has been shown that the performance-optimized computer hardware is extremely vulnerable to malicious manipulation such as data tampering, information leakage and so on. In this research position, students will be introduced to cutting-edge security problems in computer hardware, gain hands-on experience about an end-to-end attack is carried out on real system. Based on such understandings, students will be given state-of-the-art computer platforms to investigate new security vulnerabilities in hardware and computer architectures. Students will also be guided to explore the defensive approach from algorithm, software and hardware levels to enhance system security. The results of the project will lead to paper sumbssions to top conferences and journals in the computer architecture and system security field.
