Low fluid heat transfer experiments in oxide and carbon notube suspensions. Design of 100 micron microchannel fluid system and measurements. Hot film anemometer measurements of bubble frequency and velocity in refrigerant flows. Thermochromic liquid crystal (TLC)techniques of non-invasive surface temperature measurements.

Student Responsibilities

Student can work in any of the 4 projects with graduate students learning to use new instrumentation and techniques of fluid flow and heat transfer. Extra funding will be available if students want to research new ideas and design.

Time Commitment

Student Requirements

Enthusiasm to learn new things and strong work ethic are absolute requirements. Knowledge of LabView and basic electrical measurement devices and enrollment in ME or AE classes preferred.
