Flame-Vortex Dynamics in a Ramjet/Scramjet Engine - Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering


The focus of the research is an advanced combustor technique known as cavity flame stabilization. The effects of flow-field conditions on combustor stability are analyzed, specifically including flame generated vorticity and turbulence.

Student Requirements

The student will assist with data acquisition and processing. They will further aid in experimental setup tasks and troubleshooting. This project presents the unique opportunity to experience high speed advanced optical diagnostic techniques using state-of-the-art technology. Previous experience is ideal, however the desire to learn is paramount.
