Homelessness and Housing Instability Research Collaborative – Research Associate - School of Public Administration

Given rising homelessness and housing instability across the country, additional research leveraging community partnerships, data, and human capital is necessary to guide communities’ responses. To address these issues, Dr. Huang and Dr. Sullivan in the School of Public Administration are creating the Homelessness and Housing Instability Research Collaborative (HRC). The HRC will be a research collaborative focused on connecting these components to address policy solutions and public management issues related to homelessness.

The HRC will be a collaborative of faculty and undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral students dedicated to these issues. Members will participate in a reading group, meet with community leaders working to end homelessness, design a research proposal, conduct the corresponding research, and present the findings to community members and the academic community.

We will select one undergraduate student to receive a $1,000 stipend as an HRC research associate. We will also recruit volunteers looking to gain experience in research or learn more about homelessness and housing instability.

As an undergraduate student in the HRC, you will learn about policies and services addressing homelessness and housing insecurity and how to conduct academic research. You will work closely with a doctoral student to learn the steps of the research process and faculty members to learn more about homelessness and housing insecurity.
