motion capture research assistant - Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering

This project uses motion capture system to track kinematics of human upper limb motion. The motion capture system uses light emitting markers which need to be integrated into ‘tracker modules’ (i.e., groups of markers in a fixed configuration). The long term objective is to use kinematic measurement to study human neural control of movement. At least 8 hours of weekly commitment is expected for one semester. The student has the option to continue working on this project after the first semester (future work include human subject data collection and analysis)

Student Responsibilities

The student will design cases for integrating LED sensor modules that can be connected to one or more driver board. These modules will be worn on arms and hands. Depending on the skill set of the student, additional work include writing custom script/program to estimate kinematics using these sensor modules.

Time Commitment

10 hour(s)

Student Requirements

The student is expected to have experience with CAD and basic electronics skills (e.g., soldering). Additional experience with programming can be also helpful.
