Undergraduate research assistant (Computer Vision and Machine Learning) - Computer Science


The students will work on the following Research Topics under the supervision of Dr. Chen Chen:
(1) Deep learning for computer vision
– object detection/recognition
– action detection/recognition
– human pose estimation and tracking
– semantic segmentation

(2) Vision for drones (vision-assisted navigation, control, planning, etc.)
(3) Multi-modality learning (vision, text, speech, etc.)

Dr. Chen Chen is an Assistant Professor at the Center for Research in Computer Vision. Prof. Chen Chen’s main research interests include computer vision, image and video processing, and machine learning. He had published ~70 papers in top-tier venues, including CVPR, ICCV, ECCV, NeurIPS, AAAI, IJCAI, MICCAI, T-PAMI, T-IP, T-NNLS, and IJCV. He has more than 7600 citations with an h-index of 45 as of July 2021 according to his Google Scholar profile. He is ranked among the top 2% of scientists in the world by a recent Stanford University study. He is an Area Chair of CVPR 2022, ACM Multimedia 2019 – 2021, ICME 2021, and WACV 2019. (1) Undergraduate students with degrees in Computer Science/Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics or related majors. (2) Strong programming and/or mathematical skills. Proficient in deep learning frameworks, e.g., PyTorch (3) Candidates with research experience in image processing, computer vision, and machine learning, are preferred.
